TECHNOLOGY
WFSU-TV has come a long way since its inception in 1960. WFSU now broadcasts a digital signal 24 hours a day and in High Definition for 12 hours a day, including primetime programming.
WFSU-TV's facilities include KU and C Band satellite uplink and downlink capabilities which enable the station to transmit programs around the world and to operate Navigator, an international "turnkey teleconferencing service."

The WFSU facilities include two fully equipped television studios, one of which is the largest in north Florida. Studios house five cameras, computer-driven lighting systems, stereo audio systems, Chyron Duets, and digital video effects systems. Three editing suites are fully equipped for post-production with computerized editing equipment which includes Final Cut Pro and professional graphics software.

MEDIA SERVICES
Since 1995, WFSU has operated 4FSU (Comcast Channel 4), a cable access channel that hosts The Florida Channel programming during the day and FSU programming each evening. It is dedicated to heightening public awareness of local and University affairs. 4FSU acts as a training laboratory for students interested in television production and technology.
WFSU also operates WFSG-TV Channel 56, a full power station that brings PBS programming to the Panama City Florida area. WFSG-TV extends coverage of WFSU-TV to the Forgotten Coast of Florida. [View Broadcast Coverage Map.]
In 1997 WFSU-TV underwent a transformation from mostly PBS retransmission and occasional local productions to become a major producer of governmental affairs programming through The Florida Channel.

News & Information, Panama City, FL
WFSU radio provides Tallahassee, Panama City and the surrounding communities with daily up-to-date news and information on both 88.9 FM and 89.1 FM. Programs include l National Public Radio news favorites such as All Things Considered, Talk of the Nation and Marketplace as well as entertainment and documentary like Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me, Prarie Home Companion and This American Life.
WFSU also produces local radio news, information and programming. Perspectives, a weekly local affairs talk show that airs Thursdays at 11 a.m., 411 Teen, and along with the Florida Public Radio Network: Florida on the Line and Capitol Report.

Two mobile media apps also featuer WFSU webcasts. They are the Public Radio Player and NPR's mobile device app.
RADIO SERVICES - THE FLORIDA PUBLIC RADIO NETWORK
Established in 1975, the Florida Public Radio Network is the oldest public radio network in the United States. Its mission is to provide public radio listeners with in-depth coverage of the Florida Legislature, state government and issues that affect the state. FPRN serves thirteen public radio stations across the state. Each week these stations provide public radio services to over one million listeners and these stations span Florida from Pensacola to Miami, leaving virtually no Floridian out of reach of the FPRN signal.
WFSU is at the forefront of technology, and since 1997 has provided both radio and television webcasts of its services.
