Lawrence Joey Smith v. State of Florida

Smith was charged with the 1999 murder of Robert Crawford and attempted murder of Stephen Tuttle. He was found guilty on both counts and, at the penalty phase, a jury recommended death 8-to-4. The trial judge sentenced Smith to life imprisonment for the attempted murder conviction and imposed the death penalty for the murder conviction. This is Smith's direct appeal.
