Ernest Whitfield v. State of Florida

In 1995 Ernest Whitfield was tried and convicted for the first-degree murder of Claretha Reynolds, the sexual battery with a deadly weapon of Willie Mae Brooks, and armed burglary. Whitfield received the death penalty for the first-degree murder charge. The Florida Supreme Court affirmed on direct appeal. The case is now before the Court on Whitfield's first motion for postconviction relief.
