Dr. Donald Tobkin jointly holds degrees in law and medicine, and represented Ms. Jarboe in a legal probate case arising under Pennsylvania law. Jarboe fired him allegedly because he asked her to misrepresent her case. She later filed an unsuccessful Bar complaint against Tobkin. He sued for defamation and, despite repeated dismissals, continued to amend or pursue the case for six years. The Fourth District Court ordered the complaint dismissed on grounds that attorneys are absolutely barred from suing anyone who files a complaint against them with The Florida Bar.
