Facts
Brown was convicted under a statute prohibiting convicted felons from possessing firearms. At trial he offered to stipulate to the fact that he was convicted felon, thereby preventing the jury from learning the nature of the prior offenses. The trial court disagreed, however, and let the State introduce information about the prior convictions. On appeal, the Third District Court affirmed, and Brown sought review in the Supreme Court.
