In 1995 the Florida Supreme Court created a Court Reporter Certification Planning Committee to evaluate establishing a certification process for court reporters. The Committee proposed rules of procedure to require certification. The Florida Court Reporters Association supports the proposal with some modifications but asks that current court reporters be grandfathered in.
