Sireci was indicted for the 1975 murder of used-car lot owner Howard Poteet. After trial, he was convicted and sentenced to death. His case was sent back for resentencing due to errors, and in 1990 he again was sentenced to death. The sentence was upheld on appeal. He now challenges its validity.
