Dennis was charged with the April 1996 murders of Timwanika Lumpkins and Marlin Barnes, a linebacker with the University of Miami football team. He was tried and convicted of murder, and the jury recommended the death penalty 11-to-1. The trial court sentenced him to death. This is Dennis' direct appeal.
