Pinellas County Mr. Westphal, a St. Petersburg firefighter injured on the job, was denied worker’s compensation payments for a period of time after his temporary benefits ended and before his permanent benefits began. On appeal, the First District Court of Appeal interpreted the statute to eliminate the gap but asked this Court to review the issue as one of great public importance.
