Ms. Phillips and other clients of Raymond James accused the company of negligence, fraud and other violations in a claim filed with an arbitration panel. Raymond James argued the claims were barred by statutes of limitations. The clients then went to court, seeking a ruling that Florida's statute of limitations does not apply to arbitration. The trial court agreed with them. The Second District Court of Appeal upheld the result of that ruling and certified the issue as one of great importance for this Court to consider.
