Martha Speaks Reading Buddies program is an 8-week long program that pairs kindergarten students (Little Buddies) with older students (Big Buddies) of both Bond Elementary School in Tallahassee and St. Johns Elementary School in Quincy. Beginning in January 2009, Buddies visit with each other once a week to learn special new vocabulary words, play word games, watch a bit of Martha Speaks, read a book together, and then finally write about their experience. Research indicates that when children "buddy" up for learning wonderful things take place for both older and younger students!

A specially designed Raising Readers “Reading Den”
features selected episodes of PBS Progamming that includes Between the
Lions. Super Why, Marth Speaks and others over a set period of time,
games, activities, and library collection materials (including books
featured on the programs!). Family literacy activities, and staff
training are offered.
