A Great Season of outloud
Thanks for being with us!
WFSU brings you the Big Bend area through sights and
sounds on TV, radio, and the web. On the TV side, outloud brings you
some of those sweetest sounds: the music of our area. It's the
sound of sorrowful lament from an old country fiddle, a surprising
and adventurous saxophone improvisation, the gentle yet vigorous
plucking of the Chinese zheng, or a nasty gutter funk guitar solo
that leaves your ears ringing. It is those sounds and a whole lot
more- though not all at once (that might make an interesting band,
however).
This music provides us with a window to who and what our area is.
This is the American south, which has a rich culture and musical
tradition all its own. And then there are people who have come from
all over the state, the country, and even the world to go to school
or settle here. This combination makes this area fun and unique, and
the music reflects that. Take a listen to some of the video clips on
these pages and you'll see what we're talking about.
It's our mission to give you the widest sampling of music in
this area; we try to bring you the best, the exotic, the quirky (or
downright strange), the rootsy, the up and coming, the danceable, and
anything else worth listening to. So bring an open mind, and we will
fill it with music.
outloud returns to WFSU-TV on:
