WFSU WINS TELLY AWARDS
Rob Diaz de Villegas July 2007- WFSU has been awarded a prestigious silver Telly award (first place) in the category of Public Relations Video. The award winning video that touts FSU's Pathways of Excellence, an initiative meant to enhance FSU's standing as a research university, was produced and edited by WFSU's Rob Diaz de Villegas (pictured). The video has been distributed to alumni, press, and the 11 other ACC member school presidents, and premiered at FSU before an assembly of FSU faculty at the 2006 State of the University address.

Earlier this year, the entire Pathways campaign, including this video, press releases, and print materials, was entered into the CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) awards competition, in the Institutional Relations category. The Pathways campaign was deemed one of the top three submissions in this category, an exceptional designation considering the stringent criteria that must be met to even be considered for a CASE award.

The Telly Awards honor the very best local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions to strengthen the visual arts community by inspiring, promoting, and supporting creativity. The 28th Annual Telly Awards received over 14,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents.

WFSU/The Florida Channel's Jackson Peel and Laura Geller also received a silver Telly (first place) for the Florida Crossroads episode, "Lest We Forget." Florida Crossroads is a half-hour documentary series that looks at the people, places, and events shaping Florida. The series explores a wide variety of environmental, political and social issues from across the state.
