WFSU'S PEANUTS GALLERY WINS AT NETA 2008
(January 24, 2008 - Columbus, OH) WFSU Television's production, Peanuts Gallery, was named the finest performance program from a large market broadcaster when the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) honored twenty-four public broadcasters with awards on stage at The Columbus Hotel.

Peanuts Gallery is a musical composition from Florida State University's music professor Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, honoring some of Charles M. Schulz well-loved comic characters. The panel of judges praised the half-hour program for the way it celebrated the creativity of two distinct artistic disciplines. They also liked the way interviews and behind-the-scenes moments were interwoven with the performance. WFSU's talented production team was credited with the award (please click here for a list of credits).

In all, forty trophies in the areas of program production, promotion, outreach, and instructional media, were awarded. The celebratory presentation was part of NETA's annual conference, held this year in Columbus, Ohio.

The NETA Awards are annual recognition of member-produced excellence in public broadcasting, a tradition established more than forty years ago by the pioneering Southern Educational Communications Association.

NETA is a professional association founded in 1997 to serve public television licensees and affiliated educational organizations. The organization has members in 44 states, the District of Columbia, and the Virgin Islands. NETA is headquartered in Columbia, SC.
