PBS Kids Go! FacePlace is a free online site that gives children the chance to learn while engaging in entertaining activities starring their favorite PBS characters. PBS Kids Go! FacePlace is made available to all PBS member stations for use on their web sites. Each station is required to register their logo for verification with WFSU before posting the site on their respective servers. Please report what you think may be unverified use to email@example.com.Goals of Activities
Each activity on PBS Kids Go! FacePlace has been created with children's learning and lifestyle goals in mind.
Keeping children’s natural curiosity about the adult world in mind, PBS Kids Go! FacePlace begins by giving children the opportunity to choose a face to head their "profile" page, similar to popular social networking sites. While children are not permitted to upload photos, they can choose a PBS Kids Go! character to represent them. Each user is also presented with a "favorites" area where he/she can choose favorite items such as fruits and vegetables. Each of these sections can be changed according to user preferences.
Activities with Ruff Ruffman is a drawing application. The goal is to remind children that being active is important to keeping fit and staying well balanced. Children are asked to draw their favorite activities and pastimes. There are also icons provided that they can include in each creation.
Wishbone Scene Detective is a writing activity where users are asked to apply specific writing styles to user-created stories. Users are asked to write about what Wishbone is doing in the photo given. This activity could be especially relevant in the classroom. Users can save up to three stories on their profiles.
WordGirl Exercise Your Lexicon features WordGirl and her loquacious gang. WordGirl and Captain Huggy Face challenge users to match 15 antonyms as fast as they can. There are two levels: easy and difficult. A timer keeps track of the user’s progress. Fastest times are posted on profile pages.Registration
Users are asked to register so that they can complete activities at their leisure and build upon profile pages. Registration information is used for no other purpose.
We ask that each user register with a valid email address so that we can send verification of registration as well as password reminders. If a user does not have an email addresss, it is recommended that a parent, guardian, or teacher email address be used. An email address will be required for registration.
Happy Birthday messages are sent once a year to registered users via email.
Users can share completed activities and portions of their profile page with friends, teachers, or family. Only a user chooses those who will have access to view these completed activities
